Elk River Harmonicas
Elk River Harmonicas
since 2007
Cross Lanes, WV
Not everybody is looking for or needs a fully customized harmonica, especially given the cost for the
skilled labor that goes into them. In my experience as a customizer, I've come across/developed techniques that can make a major improvement in how a harmonica plays that I can offer for a very nominal surcharge of about $7.
These are not full-custom harmonicas, but are taken to the limit of what a stock harmonica can do.

Solist Pro 12

The Solist Pro 12 is a 12-hole diatonic harmonica with a sealed wood body. The standard tunings correspond with the first 12 holes of the Hohner Steve Baker model (the tuning from holes 4 and up correspond with a regular harmonica of that key starting on hole 1. Holes 1-3 correspond with holes 1-3 on a diatonic harmonica pitched one octave lower. In a nutshell, that note pattern on holes 1-3 repeats itself.
Keys: C, Low C, Low A and Low D $77
Solo tuned C (starts on C4), $77 order
At Elk River, we usually infuse the wood bodies of the optimized instruments with a small amount of peppermint oil. This is done not only for the pleasant smell, but for the oil's anti-microbal qualities. If you prefer your instrument with no peppermint, please let me know.
Big Six

Big Six, six-hole harmonica featuring steel reeds, sealed wood body and lanyard. Available in blues tuning, which corresponds to holes one through six on a regular C harmonica and the Folk tuning, which corresponds to holes 4-9 on a Low C harmonica.
